Identify 20 or more species of wildflowers, with possibility of visiting a forest stand about 150 years old. June 6, Sunday - Bike Ride. Isle LaMotte. Easy. 10-15 miles. We will park at the fishing access just north of Isle LaMotte bridge, then circumnavigate around the island. Will stop and take a look at the largest reef in Vermont with fossils 500 million years old. Bring lunch and water. Helmet required. Option to ride over the Alburg Dunes after the Isle LaMotte ride. July 3, Saturday - Independence Day Parade. Montpelier. The year's easiest hike! Very slow. 1 mile. Join us in celebrating the GMC's 100th birthday and Independence Day by walking in the parade down Main and State Streets by the State House. Coordinators: Reidun Nuquist and Thomas Weiss.

July 10, Saturday - Hike. Ripton. Moderate. 10 miles. Skylight Pond via Burnt Hill, Long Trail and Skylight Pond Trails. Leader: Steve Lightholder.

July 13, Tuesday - Bike Ride. South Hero. Moderate. 20-25 miles. Scenic summer ride with frequent views of Lake Champlain. Possible swim at Sandbar. Helmet required. Bring lunch. Leaders: Reidun and Andrew Nuquist.

July 17, Saturday - Hike. Rain Date: July 18, Sunday. White Mtns., NH. Very Difficult. 12.6 miles. 9+ hrs. on trail. Summit Mt. Jefferson and Adams via Castle Trail, Edmunds Col to Gulfside, Israel Ridge, and Castle Trails. Leader: Paul DeLuca.

July 18, Sunday - Hike. Duxbury. Difficult. Longer option is 7.8 miles and the shorter is 6.6 miles. From Couching Lion parking lot, ascend the Monroe Trail to the Alpine Trail South past the B-24 wing to the LT. Scramble to the summit. When we reach the hut clearing, if all agree, we will descend .8 miles to the Alpine Trail and them 1.2 miles up to the Monroe Trail, back to the parking lot. Too strenuous for anyone, from the hut clearing, will take the Monroe Trail directly to parking lot. Leader: Fred Jordan.

September 5, Sunday - Hike. White Mtns., NH. Difficult. 10.0 miles round trip. Mount Carrigain via the Signal Ridge Trail. One of the best views in the Whites. Joint event with Northeast Kingdom Section. Leader: Michael Chernick.

September 18, Saturday - Bike Ride. Isle LaMotte. Easy. 15-20 miles depending on how many dead end views we choose to see. Start at St. Ann's shrine and peddle around the island. Will visit the 480 million year old Chazy Reef and the Goodsal Ridge Preserve. 70 mile drive from Montpelier. Helmet required. Meet at 8:00 A.M., MHS. Leader: Eric Seidel.

September 19, Sunday - Hike. Westmore and Sutton. Moderate. South Trail 3.4 miles round trip. Mt Pisgah overlooking Lake Willoughby. Dramatic views. Leaders: Cynthia Martin and George Longenecker.

September 25, Saturday - Hike. Mahoosuc Notch, NH. Very Difficult and very strenuous. 9.4 miles. 10 hour hike. The toughest and longest mile on the AT. Spot cars on Success Pond Road and hike in on the Notch Trail. At the Notch, we will climb over, crawl under and navigate through the boulder-filled Notch. Then ascend the steep slope of the Mahoosuc Arm, descend to Speck Pond Trail (the highest tarn in the State) and hike out on the Speck Pond Trail. Leader: Phyllis Rubenstein.

September 26, Sunday - Bike Ride. Burlington. Moderate. 20+/- miles. Bike Path from Oakledge Park in the South End, across the Winooski River to Colchester and the Causeway and return. October 3, Sunday - Hike. Plainfield. Easy. 4 miles round trip. Spruce Mountain. Great views from the fire tower. Leader: Ken Hertz.

October 9, Saturday - Paddle. St. Albans. Moderate. 10-15 miles. Launch at Lake Champlain Kilcare State Park. Depending on wind conditions, paddle around St. Albans Bay. Stop at Burton and Wood's Island. PFD required. Meet at MHS. Leader: Eric Seidel.

October 10, Sunday - Hike. Middlesex. Easy. 4+/- miles round trip. Little elevation gain. Tangletown. Old road. Meet at 1:00 P.M., MHS. Leader: John Buddington.

October 16, Saturday - Hike. Stowe-Worcester. Difficult. 11.1 miles. Stowe Pinnacle and Hogback Trails to the Skyline Trail and head north to Worcester Mountain. Leader will spot car before the hike, but a car spot at the end of the hike. Bring food, water and headlight. Leader: Charlene Bohl.

October 23, Saturday - Hike. Ripton. Moderate. 7 miles. Mt. Moosalamo. Ascend the Falls of Lana Trail from Branbury State Park to the Rattlesnake Cliffs Trail and summit via the Oak Ridge Trail. Return via the Aunt Jennie Trail. Meet at 8:00 A.M., MHS. Leader: Eric Seidel.
