Nancy Schulz's 50/50
Paul DeLuca's White Mountains, NH 48 - 4K Series
Thomas Weiss's LT End-to-End Day Trips

Easy and easy/moderate outings: This initial list is taken from a perusal of back issues of Trail Talk, as summarized in our archives section. Please send comments, corrections, additions and deletions to Ken Hertz

Groups of Hikes: There have been several organized sequences of outings. Nancy Schulz's "50/50" was a fundraiser celebrating the Montpelier Section's fiftieth anniversary. Paul DeLuca's NH 48 - 4K series covers the 4,000 ft mountains of New Hampshire. Thomas Weiss's LT sequence covered the entire Long Trail in 30 day-hikes from Montpelier.

Level of Difficulty: The pre-Trail Talk Outings Schedule contained no difficulty ratings. Early Trail Talk listings did have some such ratings, and issue number 6, May 1983 provided a standardized definition of difficulty ratings for the Section. The GMC-published Trip Leader's Handbook (1997) presents definitions devised by a committee made up of experienced trip leaders from several sections, including Montpelier. In all cases, the ratings reflect aerobic effort, not technical skill.
